Fun in the sun...

Another fun day in the sun. A few of us are starting to look a bit pink, but we'll use a little aloe and be ready to go again tomorrow.

This afternoon JJ fell off the back of a moving golf cart, it was a scary few minutes. Thankfully I think he was more scared then hurt. He has a little road rash and a few scrapes, but otherwise he's a pretty tough cookie.

Tonight we decided to have a quick dinner at home and then go to Cabo for a little walk and some ice cream. We found a few t-shirts, wandered around the marina and had some ice cream. We parked in the same parking garage that I got stuck in last week, but this time we were prepared...we paid our ticket in pesos before we got in the car...funny how much easier things are when you pay attention.

Last night after dinner, we went down to the beach for a little while. I loved watching the waves come in and hearing the kids laugh!

Everybody ready....

....to be soaked!

You can always count on Carly to bring a little attitude.

Maggie might have met her guacamole match :)

Maggie & Amy tried to get a picture of themselves several times, Maggie didn't understand why her arms weren't long enough to get their whole heads.

Wow, Gracie looks like a tank in this picture!

Maggie had to make sure she got the last drip of ice cream out of the bowl.

Carly & JJ are here!

After a few more hours of traveling then they planned on, the Ries' arrived in Cabo. They've been here about a day now and boy, have we had a great time! Yesterday we did some swimming and then had dinner out by the pool. Today we've been to the park, been swimming, eaten plenty and I think maybe tonight after dinner we'll walk down and play on the beach.

This morning it was really cloudy here, but it burned off through the day. Supposedly there is a "tropical depression" headed our way, but it sounds like other then a few clouds and hopefully a little bit of a breeze it will likely only bring a little rain over the weekend. I hope that's true....I like new experiences as much as the next person, but I could do without a hurricane while I'm here by myself with the kids!

A few pictures from the last 24 hours....

Too bad Maggie wasn't looking or smiling for this picture!

I love this picture!

Arnie and Ben decided to be 'skins' and Maggie got to make the shot!

Here's how Grace spent her time at the playground...

After they discovered the comfort station, everyone needed to stop playing to eat their snack (goldfish crackers).

Arnie was running, because Maggie and JJ started to roll down the hill in the golf cart. JJ released the parking break and Maggie was apparently in charge of steering. We thought they would be scared, but when Arnie got the cart stopped they were both laughing hysterically. Thankfully they went backwards and didn't end up in the middle of the tennis court.

Maggie thought she would teach JJ how to play golf, it's a wonder they didn't either one get hit with a golf club.

Maggie and Carly doing a project by the pool.

I'm so glad we have such dorks for best friends :)

JJ the dare devil...

Lots of fun in the sun!!

Gracie doesn't always love to be my model, but yesterday she was pretty happy to comply. She is getting SO big, I'm afraid she might outgrow all of the clothes I brought for her to wear. I started with 3 swimsuits for her, and now there is only one that fits...

Beach Babe...

Ries' were delayed and then rerouted out of Omaha. They should be landing here in about 45 min. We're disappointed that it was a stressful day for them, but it was a little cloudy and even rained for about 10 seconds, so if there was going to be a day to hang out in the airport, I guess this was it.

Just like a fish...

Maggie is becoming such a great swimmer. She can pretty much make it across the pool by herself and she just keeps jumping and swimming, jumping and swimming. I wish she had a little fear of the the water, but she doesn't seem to.

When we were here in January, Maggie was still pretty apprehensive about the ocean. She would stick her toes in, but even that took a lot of convincing. Tonight we went down to the beach and it was a completely different story. Arnie had to keep really close because when the waves would come she'd try and run out and ride them in. I don't think I can post videos from my ipad but I'll add one when I get home. She came home soaked and giggling.

"Mom, why didn't we wear our swimsuits?"

Gracie loved the beach too!!!

It's a Dad Life!! :)

Maggie thinks this bed on the beach is pretty cool, she doesn't understand why she can't take her afternoon "rest" there.

Gracie had her first taste of guacamole today at lunch. She seemed to think it was pretty good. If she likes it as much as her sister, we might have lots of future arguments on our hands. We've already talked to Maggie about how when Ries' are here she's going to have to share the guacamole, she is used to having it all to herself because Arnie and I don't eat it.

Momma and her girls...

Tomorrow morning it's back to Spanish time for Maggie and then about lunch time Carly and JJ will be here. Maggie is so excited!!

Poor Diego...

Of all the nights not to throw my camera in the bag! A set of twin boys was celebrating their 11th birthday here tonight and they invited Maggie to come hit the piñata with them. Much to her surprise the piñata was a life-size Diego (Dora's cousin). Maggie was terrified! I don't know if it was the scary looking piñata, the older boys beating on it or the other little girl she was trying to talk to, who only spoke Spanish. She clung to Arnie until the candy started flying, then she got the idea....

Now that she's in bed I need to go through the candy bag and figure out what it all is. It seems to be common practice here to have HOT candy, lots of pepper and spice flavoring. (in candy, really??)

Sorry for the awful cell phone pictures, but I wanted to preserve the memory somehow!

She didn't cry!!!!

Yesterday when I dropped Maggie off with Cici, she didn't cry! Amen! She marched right in and started working on a shirt that she'd started the previous day. It was such a good feeling to be able to leave her there having a good time. She doesn't have Spanish lessons over the weekend, so I hope that she doesn't lose the comfort over the weekend.

When we made our initial trip to Cabo Walmart, Maggie saw a hello kitty cup that she wanted. I told her no, and we went on our way. She reminded me of the cup on Wednesday afternoon, so we made a deal that if she went to see Cici without tears, we'd go back. Well she didn't forget, so last night we all set out to wander around town for a bit then stop at Walmart for the Hello Kitty cup. I always park in the same parking garage when I go to town, it's inexpensive, safe and near clean restrooms. Last night we went to leave the garage and apparently the process has changed. The booth that used to contain a person to take your money and let you out, was closed up and replaced by a machine and a big sign that said you had to pay at the machine inside the mall. Amy and I had already loaded the girls up and gotten them settled once, so Amy volunteered to go inside and deal with the machine. Easier said then done! Bless her heart, the machine only takes Pesos, and we didn't have any, so she had to run through the mall, buy a coke light, beg the women for her change in Pesos, pay the ticket and get back to the car. By the time she got back we were both laughing hysterically! I think I may need to find a new place to park or start carrying some Pesos.

Walmart on a Friday night was a mess (what did we expect??) but after nearly and hour, we left the proud owners of a Hello Kitty cup.

In honor of Aunt Amy's last night here we had ice cream for dinner! We're so glad she came to see us, and I'm pretty confident I can say she's never had a vacation quite like this one before :) I hope spending the week with Maggie and Grace didn't delay the potential of cousins for our girls!!

This morning we dropped Amy off at the airport and Maggie said "Now our vacation isn't going to be fun anymore, until daddy gets here." Good thing it was just a matter of minutes before daddy arrived. I wouldn't have wanted to ruin the fun she was having.

We'll spend the next couple of days, just the 4 of us, then on Monday we get to go pick up the Ries'....we can't wait to have them here with us.

By the way, today when Maggie ordered lunch she said "Un taco carne con queso, por favor"...One steak taco with cheese, please....not bad! She's not remembering her colors quite as well, but she'll never go hungry!

It was "everybody wear a pink dress day!"

Aunt Amy is a good sport!

Grace's life....not so bad!

Maggie had a big girl ponytail, she looked like she was about 5.

Ice Cream for dinner!! Yummy!

While we were locked in the parking garage, Grace decided it was time to eat. Thankfully her big sister was there to handle it!

Just Another Day in Paradise...

We had another fun day at the beach. This morning Maggie did okay on her way in to meet with Cici. She said she had a lot to get done today so she better get started, she opened the door and walked in (which is a big improvement) and then the crying and screaming started. It wasn't as bad as the last couple of days, so maybe we're getting somewhere.

Before lunch today Maggie was having a jumping contest with a little boy at the pool, he could definitely jump WAY higher then she could (she didn't notice). A few minutes later his dad showed up, I guess when your dad is Labron James you inherit some hops...sorry Maggie, I'm thinking you're never going to get higher then your new friend, blame your daddy.

Grace ate and ate and ate today, I fully expect her to outgrow her pajamas overnight. We just couldn't keep her full.

Maggie was practicing her swing. At one point she stopped and told us the airplane overhead was making too much noise and it was distracting her swing...seriously. I think she was just still mad that we had to stop and be quiet for a minute on our way to the park because a guy was teeing off.

We're so lucky to have Aunt Amy here with us. It's definitely a little easier to be playing man to man defense then zone. (I think Labron would be proud of my basketball reference).

Gracie tried out the baby swing.

Good thing Aunt Amy is so tall!

We're not really sure who this dog house is for (I know, I know, it's obviously for "Lou", but I don't know who that is). We've only ever seen one dog here and she was a little purse dog. Maggie thought it was pretty cool though.

Tonight Maggie was talking to Grandma and Grandpa on the phone. She told them that the beach was "even farther away from Omaha then Norfolk is" and that to get here we had "to fly all the way out of the United States of America."

Maggie was showing us how big her muscles were. Here hair has been especially crazy in the humidity.
