Bouncing and Singing.....

Yesterday, Hailie, Connor, Maggie and I made a trip to the bounce house place. If you're looking for a good workout, I highly recommend it. The kids ran and slide and bounced and climbed and for whatever reason they thought I should too. After a couple of hours we were all sweaty and tired (or at least I was).

Just before this picture Hailie told me her dad doesn't let them have any sugar.....ooopsss! In my defense Hailie also told me her mom doesn't allow them to eat squash :) so you never know what to believe!

SWEATY!!!!

When we got in the car all 3 kids agreed that Happy Meals were in order....

...Maggie didn't know McDonald's served lunch. She thought they only had pancakes. The things you can learn from your older cousins :)

Grandma and Gracie had all kinds of fun while we were away...

Last night was the annual concert and fireworks show at Memorial Park. As always, we were totally spoiled. Tom Price went to the park before the crack of dawn and staked out a big area for us, then when it was time for the concert we parked in their driveway and walked across the street to our great seats.

What would a hot night in the park be without some Dippin Dots?

Maggie thought Huey Lewis pretty cool....

Glow sticks for everyone!!!

PJ the piper....

Tonight on our way home from the pool, Maggie was watching an airplane in the sky. She said, "Does PJ (the NIM pilot) play the drums or the flute?" I told her that I didn't think PJ played either one, and ask why she asked. She said, "I thought he had to use his insturments to fly." Poor kid, English really is a confussing language! I'm not sure if she always assumed PJ was up there strumming away, or what?? I can hardly wait to tell PJ.

WHOA, it is HOT! It's 10pm and the heat index is still 104. I had to work today, so we didn't make it to the pool during the hottest hours, but once Arnie got home from work we decided it was time to go.

Look who came to swim with Maggie....she was thrilled to see him as always.

PUSH....

The night wouldn't be complete without a popsicle....

....and some diet coke.

Daddy's beauty school...

Last night (willingly) Arnie successful mastered his first pony tail.
I wish I'd recorded it....the comentary was funny....not sure what Grace was growling about.

Not bad, we assured him that side pony tails are very stylish :)

Not to be left out, Grace needed a bow too....(Arnie didn't put it in.)

Daddy is a good sport! In other news this morning there was a dog in the Walgreens parking lot, Grace looked at me, said "Puppy Woof"....Maggie and I have been trying to get her to make animal sounds for several weeks, apparently she'll do it on her time...surprise, surprise.....

Scientist...

Yesterday we went on a field trip...Maggie told everyone we were going to go be scientists. We decided to leave Grace home with Miss Lauren (she's been a bit of a grump for the last few days and I wasn't sure she'd be a very willing participant) and headed off on our adventure.
We started our day at the Trout Farm near Royal, Nebraska. The kids loved it, we could have stayed there all day. As long as we kept giving them quarters for fish food, they were entertained.
Amy & JJ Ries, Jacob Culligan, Jarrett Carlisle, Maggie, Haylee Carlisle, Carly Ries and Jen & Lauren Calisle

The fish had NO idea what kind of snack they were about to get!!

Here fishy, fishy....

We headed from the trout farm to the fossil beds at Ashfall...

The kids got to touch the ash that covered the fossils. The ash made their
hands sparkle. The scientist working there told us it was the tiny shards of glass, they
were WAY to small to cut anyone, but they looked like glitter. That's why Maggie is
holding her hands out, she didn't want to rub the glitter off.

They thought the fossils were neat, but they really wanted to dig for themselves....

A bunch of little scientists.

Carly took our picture...
We had a picnic at Ashfall and then headed for the swiming pool in Orchard...

What a great tour of Northeast Nebraska. We can't wait for our next field trip with our awesome friends!

When???

...did my little girl get so BIG? Last Wednesday at school she officially became a "READER"! I got an email from a friend who was there dropping off her little boy, when Maggie finished her first book. Ann's email said, "the teacher looked at Maggie and said, you're a reader! and Maggie had a HUGE smile on her face." We're so proud of her and more importantly she's so proud of herself. She can hardly wait to get back there Tuesday and get to work on her books and sight words.

Then, if reading wasn't enough....today she TIED a shoe! She practiced and practiced and practiced and she got it. It'll take a little more practice before she's ready to tie them quick on our way out the door, but she's getting closer.

It was much easier to practice on Grandpa's big shoe then on her little one.

Arnie and I had a bit of a walk down memory lane this weekend...Friday night we had dinner with Ben and Amy at Goldbergs, around the corner from our old house. We walked in and were greeted with hugs and kisses from the owner, it's like we never left. (I think that means we used to go there too much!) I miss having a neighborhood place like that. Then this morning we took the girls to The Dell for lunch, another regular hang out in our old neighborhood.

Arnie took the girls for a stroll down Underwood...I miss walking there, there was always so much going on and people everywhere....it's a long ways from the horses and gravel roads of our current stomping ground.

Last night we went to Aunt Debbie and Uncle Mike's, Hailie and Connor (and their mom and dad) are here for a couple of weeks, so we got to kick off their visit with a BBQ. I hope we get in lots more playing while they're here.

A few other pictures from the weekend...

Root Beer Floats for a mid-morning snack, why not? We're at Grandma and Grandpa's!!!

Maggie and Grandma worked on homework....after Maggie got her "Princess hair" :)
