Grace did really good at the doctor this morning. The original diagnosis was correct, she has a condition called bi-lateral (both eyes) Epiblephron, it means that the tendons didn't connect in her lower eyelids, so the edge of her eye (where the lower eyelashes attach) is rolled in, causing the eyelashes to rub on her eyeball. The great news is that she will outgrow the problem (it may not be until she's a teenager, but it will happen) the bad news is she can't tell us how uncomfortable she is. If the discomfort and symptoms start to get in the way of her life we can choose to do the surgery and fix them now. We go back to see the specialist in 2 months, he will continue to watch her closely and make sure that the eye-lashes aren't damaging her corneas. We'll continue to do some research, see what happens and watch how she seems to be effected as she grows.
Gracie had a rough day so after dinner she got to have a few licks....
I wish I had the video camera along to show the frantic arm waving, tongue out, squealing that she was doing. Needless to say she has Grandpa's love of ice-cream.
Maggie got a package in the mail today from Aunt Diane. It was 100 degrees out but I still had to force her to take it off before we went to dinner. The front is a frog (of course that would be a hit!)...then when she crosses her arms....
it's a frogs head and mouth. She was trying to make it talk, but her coordination is going to take a little practice :) Thanks Aunt Diane!!
Arnie and Maggie went to the attic to get Grace the walker. Our attic isn't particularly dangerous, but Maggie thought she should wear her helmet up the ladder...not really, she was tricyceling and she won't even sit on her trike without her helmet.
