Nothing to do but laugh....

Wednesday was one of THOSE days! Now that it's 48 hours behind me, it really doesn't seem so bad, but at the time I was pretty sure NOTHING was going to go right. I'll give you a few highlights...actually, now that I reread them, they are kind of funny.

We started the day with no power (which at our house means no water (no flushing toilets)). Thankfully Maggie's preschool was open (we had several inches of ice and sleet). So the girls brushed their teeth, used the bathroom and had their faces washed at school....pretty sure we looked homeless :)

When I went back to get Maggie at school, the first teacher I saw said, "Janet has her downstairs, she has her finger stuck in something." I found her downstairs with her finger stuck through the Little People Castle door. The teacher had covered it in butter and Maggie was being very brave while it was removed. Phew, the castle door finally came off....Maggie's finger was pretty red and a bit swollen, but it was fine.

We got home, the girls were playing in the playroom and Maggie decided to "help" Gracie get up the ladder on the little slide and BAM! Gracie fell hard, right on to her nose. By the time I got the 20 feet to her, it was already swollen, she looked like she stuck 2 grapes up there. It took a couple of hours to get the bleeding stopped, poor thing. Once she stopped screaming from the initial shock, she handled it really well. Yesterday, we made a quick trip to Urgent Care because it was still bleeding, he assured me that she would be fine. Her nose is still straight :) and she can breath....I guess that's what's really important!

Thursday was a much less eventful day....other then the 6 inches of snow we woke up too! Here's to a weekend without any stuck fingers, trips to the emergency room, or puke!

The picture above was Monday, when it was 60 and sunny....the picture below is Wednesday night (before we got 6 more inches of snow!) What the heck?
A few pictures from our week....
We started the week with Henry's 1st Birthday party!

Yah, for Birthday cake!!!

Carly is so silly!

Grace figured out the ladder in the playhouse...

...but she can't figure out how to get down :)

Grace was sick on Tuesday, poor thing! but she made a quick recovery.

Yesterday there was a new friend to check on at the barn....

....meet Rudy, he's 6 days old and SO cute.

Lauren!!

Maggie and I decided we couldn't wait any longer to meet Lauren, so we made a really quick trip to Atlanta to see her. We left early yesterday morning and are flying home now. I'm so glad we came! She's awesome and we had a great visit. It's always nice to be at Evan & Amy's, they're great hosts. I wish they lived closer.

We decided to leave Grace home with Grandma and Grandpa. Traveling with Maggie is like being with a little grown-up. I forgot what it's like to not have a toddler with me. It's been a fun "big girl" trip. When we got on the plane the flight attendant brought Maggie some wings and asked if it was her first flight, she looked right at her and said, "yep, my first flight for this week!"

Maggie and Lauren were equally smitten with each other.

Lauren made her first trip to the park....I doubt she'll remember it :)

Poor Uncle Evan! He was working on a tv, while Maggie "helped". Her list of questions and advice were long. (why are you using a wrench?, why doesn't it work?, how's it hanging there?, why didn't you ask me, I'm pretty smart., where did that dust come from?) I figure she's just preparing him for his future. :)

Lauren is awesome! She's cute and cuddle and so happy. We adored her.

Uncle Evan and Maggie had some steak fajitas and green dip for dinner! It was a hit, surprise, surprise!

Bella was a very good sport. Maggie kept tying her up with her leash and dragging her around the house. (notice she's tied to the front door in this picture.)

A little more snuggle time and then we had to go. We can't wait to see her again!! Watch out Lauren, next time we'll have Grace with us and she's a little more wild!!

Grace has been having a great time with grandma and grandpa.....
If one stool isn't tall enough, use 4!

Be sure to check the nutrition information at the living room grocery store...

It's grandma and grandpa's house, why wouldn't we ride a trike in here??? :)

She got in!!!

Yah! Maggie got in to Montessori! I can't believe she's going to be in kindergarten, but if she has to go, that's definitely where I want her.

Back in the saddle...

Yesterday, Maggie had her first ridding lesson with a trainer here...It was a little different then her lessons in Mexico. She doesn't get a switch (much to her irritation), the trainer is more strict and the horse is MUCH bigger. But he's very gentle and she did really well with him.  They usually wait until kids are closer to 7 to start them, but she agreed to evaluate Maggie and at the end of her lesson she invited her to join the stable....Maggie knew she may not be old enough, so she was really pumped that she did well and gets to go back next week.

Maggie and Chevy...I have feeling we'll be seeing lots of pictures of this pair!
After we got home, we trading riding helmets for bike helmets and spent a little time outside...

Grace is getting really picky about her clothes, especially shoes. Last night she wore her nightgown, pajama pants and rain boots (on the wrong feet). This morning she had a fit at the at the carpet store because she wasn't wearing "kitty socks"....darn Easter Bunny, I knew there was a good reason I had a white socks only rule!

Gracie's favorite part about the backpack program is that she gets to ride on the cart every week. Maybe I should trade in my stroller :)

Hippity Hop....

Easter came and went so quickly! We had a great day, I wish there was more time to soak it all in.

Apparently Easter makes my girls silly....oh wait, they are always silly!
Not everyone can ride a trike in a dress, but Grace was determined.

We spent the afternoon at Aunt Trisha and Uncle Jeff's house....too much food, too much candy and too many eggs! We had a great time!!

Everyone was already inside, but Maggie and Alex were determined to ring
the dinner bell anyway.

The kids were ready for the Easter Egg Hunt!

Maggie was happy to play "construction" with Oliver and Uncle Jeff.
She sure loves dirt!
I'm pretty sure that Gracie thinks everything from Passover to Easter was just a giant celebration of her Birthday. Boy will she be disappointed when her 3rd Birthday only lasts one day :)
