.....This post is dictated 100% by Maggie, I'm just doing the typing for her :)
She spent the weekend in Omaha and here is what she has to say about it....
"I stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's, without my mom and sister. We went to the zoo and saw Sea Turtles and we heard there were cub lions, but they were a long ways from the aquarium and it was really cold. We went to see the butterfly movie, about Monarchs. The screen was as big as a wall. We also saw a movie about Polar Bears. I learned that daddy Polar Bears eat baby bears, but the Mommies save them. Would you save me if Daddy tried to eat me? Great Grandma Westerfield and Grandma went to the zoo with me. I also saw a parrot. Then we went to dinner and I got chicken shaped like fish. Uncle Deem stayed home. He wore his big headphones all weekend, he's not allowed to wear them to school.
Grandpa came home from his meetings at night. I gave him lots of hugs.
Today, I made Gracie a heart out of beads and we watched Grandma's favorite movie, the Jungle Bears....about Blue. Grandma curled my hair, into my church curls. We went to church, and on our way we stopped for doughnuts, but I preferred the tiny doughnuts at Grandma's better. At church I saw Great Grandma and Sarah and Pastor Paul, he's a boy."

No more mullet!
Gracie got her first haircut last night. It was a spur of the moment decision. Aunt Keeli has always cut Maggie's hair, but Grace is so LOUD and generally uncompliant that when I saw the kid cuts place I decided that might be easier for everyone. She did okay. She didn't love sitting there but we got the job done. When we got home Maggie was quick to announce "Gracie's mullet is gone!!"

Barackoli....
A little while ago I sent Maggie to the laundry room to put on her shoes so we could run a quick errand. Grace and I rounded the corner just as Maggie was saying, "Are my flippers ok?" I laughed then said, "no, you can't wear your flippers, put your boots on." Then she reminded me that I did say they weren't going to have to get out of the car.....I still made her change. Then I laughed for a good 30 minutes every time I thought of it. Really, flippers?
Once we got real shoes on and were driving down the highway talking about what we were having for supper, Maggie said, "I love Broccoli, I wish we could have it for dinner every day." Then she was quiet for a few moments (probably a millisecond), and followed it up with, "except Broccoli sounds kind of like Barack. I wish he had a different name, I really like Barackoli, but I don't like Barack Obama. Darn it."
Weekend in review...
It was a pretty low key weekend around here. While I was reluctant to do it (and already miss it) I de-Christmased the house. Everything is packed away and ready to be reopened in 11 months. Our house looks SO boring now. No sparkly lights, no pretty ribbons, nothin'....maybe I'll put up a few Valentine's things to get me over the hump. When the tree was undecorated but still standing, Maggie suggested we "just leave it all year as a 'regular tree' and then redecorate it as a Christmas tree next year." While the idea of not taking it down was appealing, I think we might get tired of the "regular tree" taking up half of our living room.
Maggie is getting pretty good at Kings in the Corners.
Gracie apparently has TERRIBLE taste in music. She was loving dancing and singing to Grandpa's terrible play list. I believe her favorite was "Chicken on Sundays".
Most days Maggie wants to dress like Gracie....Yesterday she picked a different twin... and off to softball practice they went.
Anyone need a hot pad....
....or 10!
I'm so glad the givers of this pottery wheel have a child with a January Birthday :)
DOG PILE....literally.
Last night Maggie asked if she could have an allowance. We talked about the responsibility of having an allowance and about tithing and she seemed to catch on, so we agreed. She picked Sunday as her pay day, so assuming she remembers to remind us she'll now get $2.25 every Sunday. We'll see how it goes.
Maggie has been asking to have an alarm clock for a long time, so last night Arnie set hers. This morning I walked in just as it was beeping. She shut it off and then told me that she thought we set it for too early and tomorrow we should move it back a little bit. Sorry kiddo, that's kind of the point of an alarm clock.

this & that...
People always talk about their kids taking off their clothes....we've never had that problem...until now...
Grace is still protesting using the potty at school. Today I must of been a few minutes later then her little bladder could handle, when I walked in she was wearing different pants and her teachers pants were soaked. She said she took Grace potty, Grace refused to go, then they went to put her shoes on and she peed all over Laura's lap! Stubborn little thing....she's going to quit getting invited back to school! The minute we got home she happily did her business!
Maggie is getting lots of use out of her new Christmas toys...
Grace is constantly unzipping and taking off her pj's! Silly girl.

Oh the Easy Bake Oven.....Maggie loves it and the bite sized creations she has been able to make. Thanks Great-Grandma!

Happy 2013!
Happy New Year! We spent the evening at home ringing in the New Year with great friends. I had my doubts that we would make it to midnight, but we did! Maybe because the kids were bouncing off the walls.
Here's to hoping 2013 is AWESOME! Looking forward to all it has to bring....

We couldn't find any Happy New Year hats, so we had to make do with Birthday hats and stickers.

Splish, Splash....
Sunday night, after all the Chirstmas festivities were over and everyone had headed home, we had a Birthday Party to get to!
I've been taking Gracie to Omaha for swim lessons for several months now, and for the most part, I'd say, she hates them. Last night we got to the party and she was SO excieted to get in the water. She played, splassed, kicked, blew lots of bubbles.....pretty much did everything she refuses to do during her lessons. In true Gracie fashion, SHE'LL DO IT WHEN SHE WANTS TOO!
