Hey, What's it take to get some dinner???

Hey, I'm hungry, let's go to the kitchen....
Anybody listening, I'm READY to eat....

I see you over there playing Monopoly, someone come feed me...

Fine, you won't come to me, I'll get my chair and bring it to you....

How hard does a poor baby have to work to eat around here???

(I wasn't paying attention and shot the video sideways, ooooppps.)

Apparently she's listening ALL the time....

Today at lunchtime Arnie and Maggie were have a conversation....

Arnie said something like, "Oh you think so, how do you know that?"

Maggie responded with- "Because I'm wise!"

After we got done laughing, Arnie asked Maggie if she even knew what wise meant.

She said, "Yes, it means I make good decisions."

At which point Arnie mumbled under his breath that he'd just been put in his place by a 3 year old. I sometimes think she's too smart for her own good....but I'm usually sure she's too smart for our own good!

Just in case your wondering apparently she learned "wise" from the story of David and Goliath, she continued on to tell us that David asked God if he could be wise, Saul was a bad king and David had a baby named Solomon. She doesn't miss a beat. (technically it was Solomon who asked God if he could be wise, but it's the same story and she's 3, so we'll go with it).

Last night we were playing on the floor and the tv was on in the background, I wasn't paying any attention to what was on. Maggie stopped playing and said, "Mom, what mushroom rider?" Huh??? She kept saying the word over and over. I wasn't understand. She said, "you use it on your elbows and knees." OHHHHH, moisturizer! Apparently she'd just seen a commercial for lotion and was listening much better then I was. She proceeded to ask me when she'd be old enough to use some, and was THRILLED when I said we could probably go get some right now.

This morning we went to Donald's (Maggie's name for McDonald's, for pancakes). She
hasn't asked to go there for awhile, so I think this was Gracie's first breakfast at Donald's.
She seemed to like their pancakes as much as her big sister.

Crazy weather!

Yesterday, when I picked Maggie up at school it was 72 degrees!!  It was unbelievable! The kids were all playing outside (without there coats) and they'd had ice cream for a snack. It made me want to live someplace with great weather all the time. Once we got home (and Grace went down for her nap) we put that new Gator to work...
We took all the Garland off the porch and Maggie hauled it all to the shed.

I wish we could have this weather every day!! I miss being outside.

I don't EVER remember being able to play by the Christmas tree with the windows open.

No matter how many new "fancy" (and noisy) toys kids get, the old traditional toys
are still some of the favorites. My Grandma got Maggie a felt board for Christmas (and she cut out a
zillion little pieces for all the bible stories), Maggie has been telling Grace and I lots of stories. Yesterday she
was telling Grace the Nativity story and she said, "I'm letting all the animals give baby Jesus hugs and kisses. Gracie, guess what, the camel didn't even spit at baby Jesus, he must be a nice camel."

This morning when I was getting Maggie ready for school, (I'm her mom it's my job, but keep in mind, at this point I've gotten her up, gotten her dressed, helped her make her bed, helped her wipe her rear, helped her brush her teeth, made her breakfast, etc....), anyway, I was combing her hair and she said, "Here is the ponytail holder, isn't it nice of me to give that to you? I do lots of things to help you, maybe you should help me sometimes."  Oh the mind of a three year old!

Mommy messed up!

On Wednesday nights, when Maggie has to be at church at 6, I feed her dinner quick before we go. While she was eating, she said, "What will you do while I'm at church?" I responded with something like, I'll need to find something to feed your dad and your sister and then we'll do boring stuff till it's time to come get you.

She kept eating, and after a little while she said, "Mom, why do you need to feed dad?" :) She's right, he's perfectly capable of feeding himself....

Then we headed for church, she was so excited that Christmas Break was over and she could go back....OOOPS, unfortunately I missed an email that said they changed the plan and were waiting until next week to start again. She was MAD! She told me we should just sit in the parking lot and wait to see if anyone came anyway. She didn't throw a fit, but she was pretty quiet and as we pulled out of the parking lot she said, "I AM NOT going to eat dinner again." Thankfully she's pretty easy to please and the offer of a piece of gum cheered her up quickly. I'm pretty sure that every Wednesday, forever, I'll hear about the week I took her on accident....she never forgets anything!

"HEY! Get out of my car!!!"

A little light reading :)

Back to normal....

This morning marks the end of "Christmas Break" and the reentry to reality. Maggie headed off for school this morning, she has church tonight and all of the usual stuff gets back in full swing this week. It's time to start taking down the Christmas decorations and putting the house back together. Thankfully Miss Lauren still has 2 more weeks of Christmas break (YAY!!) and I think Brandon will be back with us for a few days this week too...so I guess it's not all back to normal, we're so glad to have them both that we'll take whatever time we get.

This weekend we had a great New Years Eve at home with the Ries' and then Sunday/Monday was Westerfield Christmas at Grandma's. There are more and more of us all the time and we just get to snuggle a little closer to find someplace to sleep. I love having all of us under one roof but I think I'm getting too OLD to sleep on the floor.  I think Maggie may have been the person up the latest....she's such a sweet little girl, why does she have to HATE sleeping SO much??  At 12:45am, I had to threaten to take her home, so she'd lay down, and I'm not sure what time she finally fell asleep. She was sleeping with Grandma and Grandpa....by morning she had chased Grandma off the bed and she was taking up more then her half.

yep, that's right, Maggie and Carly are doing the thriller dance....

Maggie got a gift card from Santa for HuHot (her favorite restaurant), so Sunday
she took us all out for lunch, she was so excited to get to sign the credit card.

Gracie's helmet apparently didn't bring the Huskers much good luck, we'll be in
search of a new theme later today.

Pretty sure Maggie is throwing up a few gang signs, to go with Uncle Deem's
new hat.

Really a giant piano?? Maggie loves it and Aunt Bobbie doesn't have
any kids at home for payback.....

Grandpa makes a good climbing toy!!

Uncle Deem let Maggie fly his new helicopter, she crashed it in to the ceiling
repeatedly.

Apparently Maggie and Pops didn't notice we have furniture to sit on...

Grace was trying to sneak a turn at the computer....she kept looking over to see if I was watching!

Gracie's ready for the game....

Gracie's helmet got a new look. Dick sent a note to someone in the athletic department and asked about the helmet stickers, so Grace is sporting the official Husker helmet decals for the bowl game tomorrow. Let's hope it's just the good luck charm they need. She makes a pretty cute little Husker.

Oh ya, and look who's about to stand up...she's trying SO hard!!
