A few funnies....

Last night I was in a meeting and I got the following text message....

"Grace is in timeout. Ran Maggie over with her bike. Would not apologize."

Somehow that's way funnier when you're not home to deal with it :)

Sunday Mom sent me this picture from church.....

After church Maggie realized the railing was loose and she was not leaving until she and grandpa had it fixed!

This morning when Gracie got out of the car at school, she grabbed the back of her pants and said, "these pants CRAZY! My booty keeps falling out!" Let's hope she doesn't moon her class today :)

It worked out ok....

We were supposed to go camping last weekend. We were really looking forward to it, and it was likely the last weekend out for the fall :( but the weather forecast was pretty bad, so we changed our plans. Everyone was a little sad about canceling, but it ended up working out ok.

Since we weren't headed camping we went to Lincoln on Friday night and had dinner with Grandma Lea & Papa, Evan & Amy, Dick & Betti and Brandon. The girls loved all the attention and are always thrilled with whatever interesting things Papa finds to send them home with. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures! Oh well, take my word for it, we had a good time.

We left Lincoln and headed for Omaha. Saturday while Arnie went to the game, we went and picked some apples and played at Mom & Dad's.

On the way to get apples, we pulled over on the side of Dodge street for a minute, waiting for Mark and Laura to catch up...We pulled over right by Boys Town....the conversation went like this:
Maggie: "What's Boys Town?"
Me: "A place for trouble makers to live."
Gracie: "I a trouble maker, I go there?"
Maggie: "If Gracie goes there will we ever get her back?"

After assuring both Maggie and Gracie, that Gracie wouldn't be headed for Boys Town, we continued our drive.

It was chilly, but there were TONS of apples to be picked....

We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out at mom and dads. I had a great Birthday dinner and got to spend the evening with all my favorite people.

Today was "wear red" day at school. I'm not sure how this will compare to "crazy socks"
day tomorrow :)
Gracie thought it was a little chilly on our morning walk today....

Field Trip!

On Friday, I got to meet Maggie's class at the Pumpkin Patch for their first field trip! It was SO fun to be there with them.... They were all SO excited about the bus ride, but somehow I missed a picture of them with the bus :(... the got to run around like crazy for a couple of hours and then pick little pumpkins to take back to school.

Maggie wasn't sure who was bigger, that little horse or Reagan.....I think Reagan.

Wednesday was a busy day...it always is. So for a few minutes of Birthday fun the girls and I went to get their Halloween Pumpkins after school.... we were hoping to get our apple sauce apples too, but they weren't ready yet....maybe next week!

I always make a point to take a picture of Arnie and I with the girls on our Birthdays, this isn't one
of the best years....but at least we remembered :)

Photo catch-up....

I can't remember much of anything from the last week....must be my increasing age :) Anyway, I'll update my pictures and hope it spurs my brain.....

...oh ya, one thing I don't have a picture of...yesterday Maggie officially loped....that's horse talk for "ran so fast her mom about had a heart attack." It scared Maggie a little bit too, she's been so anxious to try it, but when it really was time she panicked a little. I think everyone does. Her trainer was really proud of her. She told Maggie they would try again next week and every week until she's comfortable. Maggie thinks she'll be ready when she's "5 and a half" (Nov. 20).  Other then the little spook, she and Chevy had a great lesson!

Gymnastics is still tough with Gracie, there isn't anyone else in her class, so getting her to pay attention is hard....but she is REALLY good at the balance beam. She just trots right across the low beam (probably 18" off the ground) so last week they let her try the higher one, she was too distracted by the attention from the bigger girls to really do it.

Last weekend we camped in Pierce, so Arnie and Dad could go to the big car auction. They spent several hours there on Saturday, I'm happy to report neither owns a new (old) car.
poor Elsie!

At naptime on Saturday, Gracie got her foot stuck in the guard rail on her bed! I snapped a quick picture then
called my dad and asked him to come help me get her out. She wasn't amused.

If only she was this easy to contain!

After getting her foot caught, Gracie topped off the day by locking herself in the
camper. The good news is Grandpa hadn't fixed the broken window sill from last
time she did that, so getting her out wasn't so bad. I think we better get grandpa & grandma
a hide-a-key!

There was an entire camp ground to play in, but the girls wanted to play house under the camper!
Gracie went home with Grandma & Grandpa on Sunday so we could help the Carlisle's move without her underfoot. Then Sunday night Maggie asked if she could wear flip-flops to school on Sunday...she was shocked when I said yes (we've always had a no flip-flop to school rule). When she woke up on Monday, it was only 52 degrees. I told her she could still wear them if she wanted but it might be chilly. She decided to try them out on the deck for awhile....she decided she could handle it!

Monday morning I made a quick trip to Omaha to get Gracie and run several errands.
Never a more fitting fortune!

We went to visit the pumpkin lady....on the roll back there was no room for Gracie in the wheel barrow!

Monday, Gracie was officially 2 and a half! She seems so grown up.

Yesterday at school Gracie made "sunglasses" aren't they lovely!
Grandma Karen picked her first tomato of the year yesterday...I think farmer Maggie was trying to show off...

We had to have Arnie help us move the BIG pumpkin to the front porch. Gracie
thinks she did it :)
This morning Gracie and I finished decorating inside and out for fall...I love it!!
I'm sure there were a million more things that went on around here, but that's what you get for now...

Button pusher....

Gracie's favorite thing to do is push people's buttons. Especially her sisters.

Wednesday, Maggie had Speech Therapy at the hospital. As we walked down the hall, Maggie said, "Gracie we have to get on the elevator." Gracie said, "yep we're getting on the Elephant." Maggie was totally irritated by the inaccuracy, and Gracie kept repeating it. Finally after Maggie's pleading Gracie complied, or at least that's what Maggie thought was happening......Gracie looked right at her and said, "ok, it's no Elephant"......long pause, Maggie looked satisfied, then Grace piped up....."it's an alligator!" Grace laughed hysterically all the way up the elevator (or alligator) and Maggie just got more irritated.

I wish I had a camera...

One of the girls favorite things to do after school is take their Gator and drive out to the mailbox. Yesterday it was WINDY but I didn't think of that when the headed out. I heard some commotion and looked out the front window.....newspaper parts were flying everywhere!!! Grace was sitting in the back of the gator, at the end of the driveway yelling at Maggie (because she knows she isn't supposed to go in the road) and Maggie was running around on the road like a kid in one of those carnival money machines. I took off across the yard to help them....without my camera! When I got out there I realized Gracie was sitting on the papers Maggie had already collected. We got all the papers contained, we're glad daddy was out of town so no one would really miss them. It was a pretty crumpled mess by the time we finished! We decided from now on maybe they should take a bag when they go.

This weekend we camped at Camp Merrill. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. We spent Saturday putting together the girls old swing set in the campground. We're so glad it has a new home!

We even found a use for Uncle Deems head....

My children look homeless....Gracie has no shoes and a dirty face, Maggie has a dirty
shirt and her shoes are untied and dad had apparently been crawling on the ground??

Arnie was headed out of town, so he went to Lincoln and the girls and I brought the camper home and unloaded it....we took this picture to prove we made it!

When we got home our butterflies had just hatched....all 5 of them made it. The girls are enjoying watching them, but I think it's probably about time to let them go.
