Opposites...

When we're in the car Maggie frequently asks us to play opposites. We say a word, she responds with the opposite. This has been going on for a few weeks, she's pretty hard to stump. So far my favorite opposites are:

Buy - "just look"
Full - "hungry"

Conversation with Grandma Karen.....

---------------------
A note from mom-
"Sunday night at bed time Maggie and I were having a philosophical discussion. I told her that any time she has things that she's concerned about she can pray and tell God how she feels. With out pausing she folded her hands, closed her eyes and said "You know God, Barrack Obama is not a good President because he makes poor choices. I think Mitt Romney should be our new President, OK? Amen."
--------------------
:) such a smart little Republican!!! She's happy to tell anyone who will listen (and some who won't) about her dislike of our current president. She often tells people he is nice to his family, he just makes poor choices. At least she doesn't just call him a jerk.

Girls Trip!

Maggie and I took a girls trip to Chicago. We left yesterday morning and came back this afternoon. Before we left she told several people we were taking a girls trip to, "shop, shop, shop". I think that's probably more fun in theory then in actuality to a 4 year old. Even though she wasn't crazy about the shopping, we had a great time. We did some shopping, got pedicures, went out for dinner, and the best surprise was we got to meet Baby Maeve.

Shawn and Renee Offenbacher had their baby girl yesterday and they were sweet enough to invite us to come meet her while we were in town. We were so excited to get to see her. We missed Tucker (he was at preschool) but we'll make a trip back soon to see them all. The Offenbacher's are great travel companions and we always enjoy their company, so I can't wait for Maeve to get big enough to be ready to go! Maeve's middle name is Margaret, you can imagine how excited Miss Maggie was about that. She's mentioned several times since we left the hospital how cute Maeve was and how soft her cheeks were.
We went out for dinner and Maggie paid :)
Maggie picked pink for her fingers and toes....complete with flowers and glitter.
Maggie's favorite purchase was a new BIG GIRL backpack ("not a little preschool backpack").
She wore the backpack all day. People kept asking her if she just got out of school.
Grandma and Gracie were home taking care of all the important stuff. They made sure Peanut had water...
....and Sam and Topper had carrots.
And most importantly they relaxed. Grace is a bit under the weather, hopefully she wasn't too much of a pain for Grandma.
Tonight everyone is back home under one roof. Daddy's boy trip is over, we're back from Chicago and Gracie is wondering where her peace and quiet went!

Batter up....

Maggie had her first softball practice today. She was so excited she could hardly stand it. She must of asked 8 times if it was time. I wasn't sure how it would go, there is one other girl her age and the rest of the team is older, mostly 6 and 7 year olds. It went fine, she did what she was told and seemed to enjoy it. During one of the drills they ran to first base then were supposed to continue into the outfield and through the sprinkler....well, that made no sense to Maggie, "why would we get our clothes wet? What if my hat gets wet? I don't think so." Needless to say, she stayed out of the sprinkler. After practice I asked what she thought, she told me it was great. I asked what her favorite part was and she said "water breaks".....who knows! The important thing is she had fun and is eager to go back.

First things first, she has to figure out how to get her fingers in the right spots.

Yesterday afternoon we got to watch Miss Lauren play softball in Omaha. Maggie was really happy to see her, but the girls weren't very into the game.....

Swing Set...

Gracie has totally mastered the swing set. I don't know why I'm surprised, the girl can climb anything. I often find her standing on the kitchen island or sitting in the middle of the dinning room table. She might be a little braver then I'd like, but I'm glad she feels like she has a little independence. Maggie has always enjoyed playing, but is a bit cautious. I wish we had a doctor in the neighborhood, I have a feeling there are multiple sets of stitches in Grace's future. Gracie loves playing in the playhouse, and so far (knock on wood) Maggie is very happy to share. For the most part she is very kind to her baby sister, I'm very proud of her.

Gracie probably has a bruise on her bum from all the trips down the slide, but she wouldn't think of letting us catch her......

Maggie might have that "daddy sign" up till she's 15. Every time we suggest taking
it down, she has a fit.

Big steps for a little girl!

Why....

....do we have toys?
That's right, my girls are chasing the dog around with tongs....or croutons as Maggie keeps calling them. Poor dog!!! I think she's given up. (If you come to my house to eat occasionally, don't worry, I'll steam clean the tongs.)

WATCH OUT!

Maggie is outside having batting practice. There aren't many safe spaces for Gracie, Reagan or Peanut (the cat).
Notice the sequenced pink high tops....I don't think they are part of the approved uniform.

Got it!
Gracie didn't want to be on Dad's shoulders she wanted to be right next to
Maggie....I have a feeling she'll get hit by a bat sometime in her future.
Maggie has been practicing her reading a lot. She's getting really good. She has a new book to bring home and practice with us each night. She's pretty excited about having "REAL" homework.

I think story time was boring Grace :)

My turn!
Sunday night we went to Aunt Trisha and Uncle Jeff's for a little swimming and lots of awesome family chaos.... (my camera was pretty much dead, so I didn't take many pictures).

The pool was pretty cold, so the little kids played in the water table.

Ellie's baby is getting quite the workover.

Dessert!
Maybe someday they'll be like the Jackson 5....or maybe the VonTrapp's :) probably not.

Gracie wasn't hanging out for the end of the concert!

Seriously Grace, how much lazier does it get....good thing Aunt Laura has
decent aim.
