Maggie's last day of school and birthday party!

I can't believe 2nd Grade is finished! Maggie had such a great 1st/2nd Grade teacher, we are really going to miss Mrs. Vanness. The last day of school was a half day, so Maggie got to pick lunch. Surprise, surprise she picked Arby's. Then we went home and set up for her Birthday Party.

Maggie wanted to have a last day of school/Birthday party with the girls from her class. She asked them all to bring donations for the animal shelter instead of presents. They had pizza and a "drive-in" movie! I think they all had a good time. Maggie loved it and she was nice enough to let her sister hang out and be a part of the party!

The girls and all their donations!

the movie "theater"

It got pretty chilly, but the fire and lots of blankets seemed to keep the girls warm.

On Friday morning we took all the donations to the Animal Shelter. The girls got to meet all the
cats (and kittens) and dogs. Maggie can't wait to go back and volunteer.

The director of the Animal Shelter gave Maggie a tshirt while we were there. She had changed into
it before we were even out of the parking lot.

Haddie is a month old!

Last Saturday, May 14th, Haddie was a month old. WOW, that happened so fast! She's growing like crazy. She weighs 11 lbs and is 22" tall. She's in about the 87% for both measurements, so she's a big girl just like her sisters always were. She's a great eater and sleeper. She wakes up once a night, usually about 3:30am. She's having some reflux issues, we're working on making her more comfortable. She's working hard on smiling, most frequently at Maggie :)

Smiling for Maggie.

One month old!!

Just for fun, Maggie at one month.

Gracie at one month.

Where we going now mom?

hmmmm, maybe this explains why Haddie spits up :)

Fast Forward!

Whoa! Life seems to be on fast forward around here but I HAVE to get caught up. Next week is a BIG week (Haddie is 1 month, Maggie's last day of 2nd grade and 8th Birthday and Gracie's Preschool Graduation!) and if I don't catch up now, I'll be so far behind I'll never get it done.

Things around here have been a little crazy. There are probably several things that deserve their own post but in the interest of time, I'm going to multi-task :)

Haddie is growing and changing every day. She still sleeps most of the time. She has a small hernia and some reflux so she has a couple of really fussy times a day, but with the help of the chiropractor and some medicine, things seem to be improving. She still sleeps great and wakes up once a night, about 3:30am. She went to the doctor for her 2 week checkup, she gained a pound and according to them grew about an inch, we're thinking that was a misread....seems unlikely she'd grow a whole inch in 2 weeks. Haddie seems to be getting used to her sisters and their "love".

The other BIG news at our house is that 2 weeks ago we added another member to the family. Wrigley, our new 12 week old Portuguese Water Dog.....yep that's right a newborn and a puppy! I'm not sure what we were thinking, I guess go big or go home! Wrigley has been a very good puppy, as long as she gets a nice long walk in the morning she's manageable the rest of the day. BUT she's still a puppy. The girls love her, Maggie has been especially helpful, she walks her after school, brushes her and went to puppy class with Arnie this week to help learn how to train her. Unfortunately Reagan isn't a fan of the puppy. We hoped they'd do ok together but Reagan is totally annoyed by Wrigley's presence. Reagan's legs are quickly deteriorating, she's struggling to get up and down the 2 steps on the front porch and she mostly sleeps all day.
2 weekends ago we took Haddie to Lincoln to meet Gramma Lea & Papa. Papa wasn't going to hold
her, once we made him he quickly decided he wasn't going to share her :)

Gramma Lea was determined that she and Maggie could BOTH fit in that chair together. They did it, doesn't look very
comfortable, but they did it :)

On the way home from Lincoln we drove to Beatrice I picked up Wrigley. She was really good in the car on the long ride home.

DON'T wake me up!

Haddie was not impressed with lunch at school, but Maggie was sure happy to have her there! Haddie was the
hit of the lunch room.

Maggie and Jude have been working hard outside (when it's not raining).

We still don't have a hole in the ground, supposedly Monday, but I think I'm done believing them! The house is spray
painted out on the dirt, Gracie wanted to see what the view from her window seat would be....I'm not sure daddy got her
high enough!

The horses have been SO muddy lately, Breezy is more grey and brown then white.

All smiles!

Hanging out in her undershirt :)

We call this "puppy jail", it's on the front porch and Wrigley gets to spend
a lot of time out there. The good news is she seems to like it.

Maggie was chosen to have Pizza with the Principal last week, it's a big honor and she was
very excited. She's been such a big help and so responsible lately, she's really growing up!

That pink blob is Haddie at the girls last soccer games. It was COLD and raining, so Haddie and I hid in the
gross YMCA soccer field bathroom to stay dry! Thankfully soccer season is over. Both girls enjoyed it and Coach Dad survived.

Last Saturday we made a quick trip to Omaha to go to the International Horse Jumping show. We made a stop at Grandma's to
let the girls stretch their legs and change and feed Haddie.

I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of the big girls at the show. They loved watching all the jumping and have really started to look forward to this event every year. Haddie wasn't too impressed.

I feel like I should start a photo album labeled, "Haddie, I can explain...." This was how we spent our Mother's Day
afternoon!

My 5 girls, Happy Mother's Day!

Maggie was also selected as a Cherry Berry Award winner at school this month. It's an award given for being
peaceful in the classroom. I love seeing how proud she is of herself when her hard work is recognized.

The saddest face ever :(

We walk 2 miles first thing every morning, I'm tired when we get home but these 2 are still running down the driveway.

Gracie decided she's going to "home school" Haddie :) Poor Haddie!

Yesterday I had my first college board meeting since Haddie was born. She stayed home with Arnie for the morning, then came and hung out
with me in the afternoon. She did great, she didn't make a peep the whole meeting.

That's not a baby???

This is Maggie's essay for district writing, the subject was "What do you like to do with your freetime on the weekends?" She's always been
a great writer and reader, but this year her handwriting has improved a TON.
I'm sure I missed a few things, but this is the gist of what's going on around here :) Next week will bring a host of new adventures and chaos. Hopefully I won't forget to take pictures of it all so I can remember what to write about!
