Kickball!

Maggie's softball team ended fall practice yesterday with a family kickball game. Gracie was so excited that she was going to get to play! We played kids against parents.....we all had a good time and thankfully no one got hurt :)

why wouldn't you wear a dress and sparkly hat to play kickball??

total concentration going on in the field :)

I think there was a kid every 4 feet on the field....seems like an unfair advantage.

After church we went to the barn for awhile. When Maggie got done riding she said "can I walk Jude a couple of laps so we can talk?"
and so they did :)
We made Aunt Barbara's sugar cookies this weekend. The girls did a great job decorating them. The only problem is neither of them seem all that interested in eating them, so mom is doing most of the eating....it's ok because I'm eating for 2, right?

Miss Lauren's Wedding (& Collin's too)

Miss Lauren's wedding is finally here!! The girls were excited about the wedding but they were more excited that Lauren was home.
Taking rehearsal VERY seriously!
The boy was supposed to be in the middle but there was NO way Gracie was going to hold his hand. Every time we suggested
it she started sobbing....so we rearranged and she was all smiles!
My plan was to keep Gracie home from school Friday and have a pretty low key day with a big nap....but it was Teddy Bear Day at school. She was so upset at the idea of missing the teddy bear picnic that we agreed she could go in the morning. Thankfully she still had time for a good nap and was in pretty good spirits for the wedding!
Gracie wasn't so sure how this was going to work out.

but she LOVED it. Of course it was fancy and she loves fancy!

Maggie came straight from school to the salon....she was ready for duty!

There is nothing shocking about this but one of my daughters was very serious about her responsibilities.....

....and the other one was a little less serious! Oh Gracie!

I can not say express what this beautiful woman means to my children. I am so grateful they have her and that she always makes them a priority. Being a part of her big day was a dream for them and they will always remember it.

Sometime you just need a little lip-gloss lesson from the bride :)

I was worried about how Gracie was going to handle standing up there the whole service. We'd had lots of conversations about
standing still, not asking questions and listening to the pastor so she knew when to fold her hands and pray. They both did AWESOME!
Gracie fidgeted a little and several times she looked at me and put her finger up to her lips to say, "look mom, I'm being quiet!"

I think this flower girl is about done.....

.....& that's a wrap! Of course Maggie was still dancing and having a great time with
the big kids. They were all SO good to her. She didn't want to leave the party but I think once we
got home she was asleep in about 45 seconds.
Hopefully we'll get to see Lauren & Collin for a few minutes today before they head back to Texas. The girls are ready to go there for a visit. We had such a great time being a part of their big day and can't wait to watch their married life unfold...and hopefully bring them back to Norfolk :)

Go Cubs Go!

Last weekend we "camped" (more like slept in the camper in the middle town) in Lincoln. We had a busy weekend and had lots of fun. Friday night we made a quick visit to Grandma Lea & Papas and did a little flower girl shoe shopping. Saturday we tailgated before the Husker game, then the girls and I hung out at the camper for the afternoon and we all went to the Husker volleyball game Saturday night. Sunday we made another visit to Grandma Lea & Papa and then headed for home.
Gracie scored a new prized possession...."a briefcase". I love it because when Maggie was in the NICU each time Papa came to
visit he filled that "briefcase" with candy and would carry it around offering it to all the nurses who were willing to take good care
of her. :)

Gracie has to be fashionable all the time. She's very particular about her shoes, really likes scarves
(she made this one so it's a favorite) and her "teacher sweater" gets worn most days.

Go Big Red!

The girls and I spent some time at the tailgate but they didn't really want to go to the
game (me either) so we saved our energy for volleyball.

They loved the volleyball game. The speed, snacks and the fact that it was girls playing (and they all
had cool bows in their hair) helped.

Huskers Win!
Sunday Gracie did a little reading for Grandma Lea and Papa. She has really figured it out in the last few weeks. We've graduated from a word here and there to whole pages and books. She thought it was fun to put her book on Grandma Lea's magnifier and read it one word at a time.

Even Daddy needs a bubby sometimes :)

Last Thursday Uncle Deem came for dinner. We haven't seen him since he left for school and I didn't realize until he got here how much the girls were missing him. They were all very happy to see each other.

Gracie and I had to do a little work on some doors from the rental house last week. She was watching iPad while I loaded them
and then looked up and realized she was about to be squished!

Sometimes you just need someplace to sit!

Arnie has been a Cubs fan forever and we've had this flag a LONG time and never flown it. When they won their Division (or whatever it's called) last week, we decided it was time to final fly the flag! We're going to be in Chicago next week with some friends and are hopeful we'll find a way to see a playoff game in person. For Arnie and the girls sake, I hope they keep winning, it's been a pretty fun ride around here.

And of course we spent some time with our favorite 4 legged girls this week. Breezy has officially moved inside, she has her own "bedroom" and she and Jude get to share an outdoor run. She's staying much cleaner (so thankfully she won't need a bath anytime soon!) and she and Jude seem to be getting along ok. Breezy has a tendency to pick fights with bigger horses (sound at all like her rider?) but Jude seems to let Breezy be the boss, so they get along swimmingly.
We hung a countdown calendar, to give the girls an idea how long it will be until the baby comes. I'm sure to them it feels like forever. Gracie has lots of funny questions about the baby....how does it eat? Does it poop in there? Is there a hole in your back where god put the baby in? (anyone want to take that one?? I'll have her call you!), can the baby hear her? Can the baby feel when she hits my tummy? can the baby sleep in her window seat? (don't worry, when it cries in the night she isn't going to feed it, she's just going to cover it in pillows so she can't hear the crying.)....we should probably start praying for babies safety now!
